Savaii continued his outstanding rise through the grades with another impressive victory under lights at the Gold Coast on Friday night, delivering a strong performance over 1400m.
Ridden with confidence by talented apprentice Jett Newman, Savaii jumped cleanly from barrier two and showed good early intent to take up a forward position. Newman was content to ease slightly and allow a couple of runners to cross, settling Savaii perfectly just behind the leaders where he travelled strongly throughout.
Approaching the home turn, Savaii loomed ominously and was full of running, with Newman biding her time in search of clear air. That opportunity came midway down the straight when a narrow gap presented, and the response was immediate.
Savaii surged through the opening, showing a sharp turn-of-foot to take control and ultimately the race for another excellent win.
The victory continues a remarkable start to his career, taking his record to four wins from just six starts, and providing the ride of a lifetime for his thrilled Triple Crown all ladies ownership group.
Trained by the red-hot partnership of Annabel & Rob Archibald, Savaii is clearly thriving under their care and looks set to continue his upward trajectory.
