Promising two-year-old filly Hellenic Belle announced herself as a filly of significant potential with an excellent win at Muswellbrook on Friday.
After some impressive barrier trials, the daughter of Hellbent had been thrown in the deep end on debut at Rosehill a fortnight ago in the Group 3 Magic Night Stakes over 1200m, where her inexperience was evident as she did plenty wrong against elite company. Post race, the plan was hatched to drop her back to 1000m at Muswellbrook with a clear focus on education and teaching her to settle through the middle stages and hopefully claiming victory in the process.
The plan worked a treat.
Ridden with great composure by Mitchell Bell, Hellenic Belle settled much more kindly through the early and middle stages, showing clear improvement as she begins to learn her race craft. When asked for an effort in the straight, she let down with an impressive turn-of-foot and scoring a very impressive win.
Notably, the first two horses cleared out from the rest of the field by approximately 4.5 lengths, underlining the strength of the performance.
It was a polished ride from Bell, who executed the race plan perfectly, and another excellent training performance from Annabel & Rob Archibald, whose meticulous approach continues to yield results with their young horses.
Triple Crown Syndications have enjoyed outstanding success with Hellbent fillies in recent years, and Hellenic Belle looks to be another exciting addition to that growing list of success stories.
With natural ability and now a race win to her name, the future looks bright for this talented filly.
