Resuming off a break, the son of Too Darn Hot had signalled his readiness with a pair of impressive trial performances leading into the race, and he carried that form straight to raceday with an impressive display.

Ridden to perfection by Braith Nock, Formal Display settled comfortably throughout before being produced at the right time. When asked for an effort in the straight, he responded instantly, quickening clear to score in very impressive and comfortable fashion, giving his rivals little chance.

“It was a confident and composed ride from Nock, who judged the tempo beautifully and ensured the gelding was in the perfect position to unleash his turn of foot when it mattered” said Triple Crown’s Chris Ward. “We are so pleased for his owners who are in for a lot more fun ahead with this boy.”

Prepared by the in-form training partnership of Annabel & Rob Archibald, Formal Display continues to build an enviable record, with Wednesday’s success bringing up the fourth win of his career and second in Australia. The manner of the victory suggests he has returned in outstanding order and is poised for another highly productive preparation.
