Formal Display continued his impressive rise through the ranks with a commanding victory at Warwick Farm on Wednesday, delivering a strong performance over 1400m to make it back-to-back wins in style.
Ridden confidently by apprentice Mollie Fitzgerald, Formal Display was quickly into stride from the barriers, with Fitzgerald ensuring he settled perfectly in a forward position outside the leader. Travelling comfortably throughout, the pair were always within striking distance before making their move upon straightening.
As the field turned for home, Formal Display surged to the front and quickly put a gap on his rivals, finding himself leading a long way from the post. Despite the early effort, the talented galloper showed great acceleration and tenacity, maintaining his advantage all the way to the line to score decisively over Emirate and Montpellier, who filled the minor placings.
The victory followed his impressive win a fortnight earlier over 1350m at the metropolitan meeting held at Wyong, providing the 5yo gelding the perfect start to his second Australian preparation.
Now boasting five wins from just 14 career starts, including three since arriving in Australia, Formal Display is proving to be a progressive and exciting prospect for his connections. With his current form and racing pattern, he looks well placed to continue building on this strong campaign.
